Hi
Newbe here. I purchased a home about 5 years ago with a fireplace and after a couple years I clearly needed to do some maintenance on the fireplace. My fireplace is a bis 1.2 . I replaced basically everything inside from the side refractorys, back refractory, baffle, iron grate, and Ash pan.
Took forever for all the parts to arrive but the fireplace was like new again so I was happy. Recently I decided I was tired off the brass doors. So I decided to remove them and painted them flat black with high heat paint and gotta say they look much better. While I had the doors off I decided it would be a good time to replace the gaskets. Removed the door gaskets and then removed the glass to access the glass gaskets. Everything went well however I am told that I can not get replacement glass gaskets for this model anymore. Just wondering if anyone knows can I use gasket tape and will this serve the same purpose as the original glass gasket. Thanks for any info you may have and helping this newbe out.
