Brought home about 5 cords of B L last winter all was dead either standing or laying, all it needed was c/s/s and a little time. Now that it has finally cooled off I will get back after some more.

Good to see BL can get there that quick in VA. Hoping to burn some next year I'm splitting, stacking and covering now. Have a few more small trees overhanging the road and some dead in the woods I hope to get to soon. Probably going to cut some sass to mix in those stacks to get the BL lit.

bl cut in the fall is very low to start with.

Nice score, I got a half a cord last November just split a large split and tested @ 14% down from 35% when I got it. I can't wait for january to try it for the first time.

Wow.. 12%. I don't think anything here can get that low. It's been said that splits in our area equalize at about 16-18% and won't get any dryer no matter how long they sit out there. Would like to hear about how it performs in the stove.

That stuff there had probly been laying ther 20 yrs, It was like that when I brought it home last yr.

This is the same locust as I found it a yr ago, the ash on top was punky I brought very little of it. I don't think the B L gets punky or rots.

BL is my favorite! There's one on the ground, roadside about a mile from my house. Just need a couple free hours to go get it.

Some of my BL was also picked up off the ground. The sapwood was rotted off but the heartwood was in great shape. Very rot-resistant wood.

Gark, a year ago some fellows checked the moisture on some white ash and cherry that we had cut and split. Now my memory is failing me but it seems it was 6 or 7 years in the stack but may have been 8. I'd have to look back to know for sure. Anyway, they checked it with a MM and found it less than 10%. I might add that it burned wonderfully!
