My BK is 7 years old it came with a factory cat thermometer no temp markings in degrees, any idea what the temps may be at the various probe positions. My probe is 2in, however when I picked up my new combustor from the BK dealer($427)wow, the new BK,King cat thermometer has a 4in probe any one know why,the dealer didn't.

Temps don't matter. The only thing you need to know is when it's above the threshold that it's active.
In fact temps will be very different from stove top thermometers on tube stoves, and numbers therefore often lead to confusion.

That said you can buy ones with numbers from other vendors.

The length is specific for the design of the stove and you should not put a thermometer of another length in as you'd be measuring at the wrong place.

I don't know what the length is for your princess.

I have a King,it takes a 2in,but the exact stove I saw yesterday a King parlor takes a 4in. that's where the confusion is,THX

Mine is longer too. For me due to the convection top,. leading to a larger distance to the center behind the cat.

That's all

This is what you need

On the subject of monitoring temps. I have found that monitoring the inner flue temperature approximately 18 inches above the top of the stove the most valuable temp to monitor, at least it has been for me. It assists me in monitoring my startup temperatures and gives me reasonably good indication of how things are going from fire to fire. Granted it's not right behind the cat, but I find the cat's going to do what the cat's going to do at any given moment.

That's a good way to look at it and I agree. The flue temperatures are enough to run this thing.

Would the 18 in height be applicable to double walled pipe,THX

The flue thermometer should be a probe one (drill a hole in the double wall pipe, stick it in), not a magnetic surface one for double wall pipe.

There are standalone flue temp probe's and if you want to get fancy there are digital types. Stand alone will not react as fast as the digital type, but whatever you choose, you'll eventually get used to how your setup performs and works under normal conditions. I invested in the digital kind that can set off alarms when I reach a temperature I've considered going overboard. Right now, mine's set to notify me if temps climb above 750F. There have been a few times where I got distracted and was glad that it was there to let me know "somethings up". Most of the time though I'm only looking at it as an indicator that I've let the wood bake long enough that it now time to start tapering down the thermostat for the long run.
