I was splitting some black locust today, from a tree long dead years ago. Cut into rounds this past winter. I could tell it was very dry already, so I tested it with the moisture meter for curiosity. Thought folks might enjoy or find interesting. 12-14% on average!

Try pushing pins in a bit deeper if you can. But yeah that's gonna be good to go.

I kind of had the same thought there but thats about as hard as i cared to push the pins in and not damage the meter. Tough stuff. I could sink the pins into the outer wood, but not in the split.
