I was splitting some black locust today, from a tree long dead years ago. Cut into rounds this past winter. I could tell it was very dry already, so I tested it with the moisture meter for curiosity. Thought folks might enjoy or find interesting. 12-14% on average!

Yes, I've had dead locust tree top 1 or 2 % higher than you measured right upon splitting after delivery.

Went in the stack for the next season.

Try pushing pins in a bit deeper if you can. But yeah that's gonna be good to go.
