Bought a lake house and there is an Earth stove with a broken air flow adjuster. The handle seems to have snapped off. Is there a do it yourself fix or do we need to get help? Any way to take apart and put in a new part? Any idea how much it would cost to get a repair person.
Thanks

Take a look at the back of the stove, there should be a metal tag that will state the serial number and model of the stove, then go online and see if there is a manual w/ expanded parts log, this will show you how to take the part apart, the name & number of it.

What is the model number? Maybe post a picture of the broken handle location and of the stove for ID.

1000ht I found the manual it was left in the house and says nothing about parts or how to take it apart. We are home now but when we go back I can sure take a picture and figure out how to post it. thanks oh broken handle location is bottom right. It regulates the amount of air going into the stove. It must have been stuck for lack of use and someone pushed too hard. Wondering too if company is still in business. I could not find it searching.

That is a rare stove, only made in 1987. Earthstove was bought by Lennox and later sold again. Parts could be very hard to get, but often air controls are very simple affairs. It may be repairable. Take a mirror and a flashlight to look underneath and follow back from the broken handle. Does it connect to a simple air valve? If you can get a cellphone picture of the air valve, post the picture here.
