My intake/secondary burn tubes come from the top front of the stove and drop down about 2 inches overall to the rear. The firebrick/baffle doesnt extend from one side to the other side. There is about a 1 inch space on each side if I center them. I bought a brick 2 days ago and burned with it in place and it didnt burn as well as it did without it. However they didnt fit perfectly one side to the other, as one side had to ride up on the tube on one side in order to stay up there. Outside temp was 35 this a.m. I should also mention that the glass had soot build up on one side as well as the brick I just removed. Is this the way these epa stoves are built? Is there a space on each side? The dealer in Asheville didnt think it was a concern. He said that they will actually leave a space to assist with a poor draft. What gives?
