I started with some hot coals at 4:40 pm est it started putting out heat at 5pm it is 6:24 pm and still burning good. I only put 3 in my quadrafire 2700i. The bricks were $3.99 for 8 bricks or $210 for a skid of them. I bought 2 packs or $8 worth to try and have some fun with. I will report back and let you guys know when they stop putting out heat

What kind of stove top temps are you seeing? I just had some "BioBlock" delivered today, and I have never used them. I have to be carefull as I run a soapstone stove and max temp is 600. How did you stack them?

Thanks

Its 6:38pm est and I have blue flames still putting out heat. I don't have a stove thermometer to tell how hot it is. I would start one at a time and see what one will do and so on. I could see that you could over-fire a stove if you put to many in.

As in how did you stack them in the stove?

I put wood in side ways the bricks I put in the opposite way

My air blowing out of my stove is 135 F @ 7:20 pm est

I got some for free from one of my stove dealers last week. I mixed them in with my normal wood and they can sustain 400 degrees for awhile. They were fine but I wouldn't pay for them. No coals really and I get all my wood for free.

where did u buy them at was it at ace hardware

I have some, they dont last that long, bio bricks last much longer, I use the eco's to burn down my coals.
I did buy about 20 overnight logs, they're called. I put three in the other night and 8 hours later they were still red and hard, about 1/4 of their size. I now put one or two overnight logs mixed in with my wood for overnight burns and it keeps the stove hotter longer.

At 9:40 pm I still had good heat but at 10:40 I still had good heat but they were burned up. I paid $3.24 not 3.99 and I got them at Henry Bierce hardware in Tallmedge Ohio. I Will probably not buy to many of these but they did supply quick easy heat.

Really? Only four hours? According to the website they have fancypants graphs showing it burns longer than hardwood.

If I read it right he got 6 hrs out of 3 blocks. Sounds pretty close to my findings. I put 4 in though and they were all pretty much in tact still after 6hrs.

I can't source them in PA either. If you find a supplier let me know.

There's a place in Ohio that delivers pallets of bricks free within 100 miles. They're just OVER 100 miles from me. You should be able to have them delivered free with no problem in Pgh area.

Nancy

For clarification, there is a big difference in these products. They are not all made the same way. Some are low compression and some are high compression. The high compression products are the original BioBricks and Eco-Brick. The Eco Brick product I suspect is not the same animal. It just has a similar name.

SmokeyCity -I'm in Pittsburgh and just bought a few packs down in Murrysville at a place called Rutters (?), they are a landscape supply place.
if you go to the Ecobrick manufacturer's website and search by zip code for a retailer, this place should pop up. If not PM me and I'll find my receipt.
