Burning wood that's had spray paint marking on it

It's getting colder this week so I'm burning the insert for some extra heat.

I'm low on dry wood so I'm mixing in some wood from old pallets. The pallet wood has some markings spray painted on it. Not a lot of paint just some markings here and there. Real light and minimal.

Stupid question but is there any reason why this would damage anything ? It's not a cat stove just a regular insert post epa so it has secondaries etc but not a cat.

Would small amount of painted wood from old pallets be harmful ? Again like 3 letters or numbers someone sprayed on a pallet. Very little

You should be fine... if you were burning wood covered in paint or chemicals that would be another story. But if you are just mixing in some pallet wood that has some pieces with paint on it. I don't see that being an issue.

There has been more than one winter that I burned just pallet wood in an EPA stove and had no issues with it.

For those of us burning in catalytic stoves, is there an acceptable spray paint for marking log length? It's only about a 2" diameter circle every 18" but probably not good for the ceramic when it burns.

When it burns the bypass is open. Or it should be. I can't see this ever being an issue.

Maybe marking the wood every 18 inches with chalk (large sidewalk chalk won't snap like chalkboard chalk) instead of spray paint may be better for burning in the stove?

Grab your circle saw/chainsaw and cut 1/4" off the painted edges of the pallets before you break them down, and you won't have to wonder if it's bad for your cat or not.

I use the mingo marker, wonderful freaking invention BTW, to mark the lengths before bucking. It shoots a small dot of spraypaint at each cut. The kerf takes away a lot of the paint but a tiny bit makes it into my cat stove.
