Well, for the past year, I've seemed to have beat down (for now) my ongoing problem -- slow ignition, or sometimes no ignition at all. Last winter I had the ignitor changed, again, this one works well. More aggressive cleaning before every fire (5hr to 14hr burns): scape out burn pot, poke out the air holes, clean the glass. Deeper cleaning every 10 fires with vacuuming, ash dumping, etc. Now getting light-off in 6-8 minutes! :)

But, I smell deep, dark trouble. To clean the air holes, I use a small, 90-degree pick, max diameter of the yip 3/32". Most of the time, the tip bottoms out, nice metallic 'click', metal on metal. Recently, experiencing some not bottoming out, sticking partway in, no click -- something gumming up. BTW, always on the side holes, not the bottom holes. So far, stove igniting fine but I'd rather have a solution for 100% clearing. Also BTW, at the ten-fire cleaning, as the burnpot is really cleaned at that point, I spray Rutland Creosote Remover (and, now the end of augur tube is staying nice, little/no scraping there needed).

So, question: how to get and keep those holes clear? Google search and a search here is not telling me much. I do not want to resort to drilling (what I I remove metal and change air/fuel ratio?) and even my new cordless angle drill unlikely to get deep in that burnpot. Maybe a tiny brush but this more than just ash, I presume. And I've never removed the burnpot myself, I guess I could not ask how, prefer to clean in situ.

I’ve been there, P61A, I use a few different sizes of picks and I’ll spin by had drill bits until they’re completely open…I’ve also used an undiluted degreaser and have used cleaning vinegar…I just make sure it’s completely dry before firing it up.

not sure what is going on with your burnpots but in 13 yrs my harman P61A never had a clogged burnpot hole..
I scrape the burnpot vigoresly every 2 week cleaning but that's it. no special tools or picks.

Interesting in that I posted to that thread a few years ago. Hmm, there's a link to the "new Burnpot", I followed it, there's a photo... and there are no holes in the sides of the Burnpot at all, just the bottom?

I run a different stove but this may help.. But i find the only time the burn pot holes start to plug is when im running the stove in low basically just a maintenance flame for most of the day. This is when its warmer out and i don't need the stove cranked up to 3 with a hot flame.. What i find that helps eliminate alot of the plugging is when i go to shut it down for the day ill bring up the heat to 3 for 15 min and let everything get up to temp and then shut it down and it seems to burn off the excess.. My stove gets a weekly cleaning and i only scrape the burn pot now compared to when i first got it and always had to take a file to the holes to clean them out
