I think I just got hosed!

I ordered a new Enviro Mini-A on Sept 25th from a local dealer.

I received a call a few days later after the pre install inspection that the stoves were on backorder for months but they had a floor model from last season that was left over and they would install it instead, bonus being no backorder. I know there had been control board issues in the past so I wanted to confirm how old of a stove I wanted.

I called Enviro who confirmed that yes there was a long backorder, a quick call with their technical people confirmed that as long as the stove was built post 2010 it would be labeled MINI-A and there would be no difference between that one and one that just rolled off the assembly line.

Well fast forward to today and the new stove goes in. I did a quick check of the stove and it looked very clean/new (has never been fired) and has the newer style control board with trim and fan control so I assumed it was a new model.

Tonight I was poking around and found the actual mfg plate inside the ashbox that shows the stove was built in 2008 and is just a MINI! I just paid full price for a new stove and ended up with a 6 year old floor model that is known to have issues and is completely out of date! Thankfully there was a fuse missing so we couldn't fire it today anyways.

Getting on the phone with the dealer first thing in the AM but I just wanted to ask fellow users quickly: What sort of issues have come up with the stoves mfg'ed near the end of 2008 as opposed to new stoves?

I couldn't imagine going into Ford and ordering a 2014 F150 and having them drop me off a 2008...Not very impressed.

Will keep the thread updated.

I don't have one, but in no way should they have charged you full price for a 2008 floor model. No way.

Missing fuse? Sounds like they needed it for another stove and used that one as a donor. I would not be impressed.

Yeah, that's low. Have them come back and pick it up.

There are three (I think) differences between the Mini and the Mini A. One is the bigger burn pot and liner. A different control board and panel is also part of the Mini A. Then the ash pan has a different latch. As far as I know like on my older version, all these parts are compatible with older models. The performance is much better with the newer version or even an upgraded one. Oh yeah and the Mini A also has a more powerful igniter.

Just a quick update for everyone. Manager appears to be in total agreement with my thoughts on the matter and is trying to make it right. They are hunting all over for a Mini-A from other dealers. the idea of going with a P3 also came up and meeting in the middle on the price difference. My only concern with that is that even though the stove seems to use the same internals overall, it does have a lot of unknowns as well as a different control setup. Not sure if I want to try a beta machine.

Will keep the thread updated as we go. In the mean time at least we have the oil furnace.
