Its been many years but my wife and I finally purchased my mothers farm house (tied up in divorce court / IRS issues for years).... Its about 3k sq ft, and we added an attached garage w/ attic truss, breezeway and family room/den...
Heating:
Tarm HS 4.0 (brand new sitting there ready to be used), zoned radiant heat with radiant floor heat in the addition (den, laundry room).
Harman Accentra insert - going in the den
Goodman Propane backup forced air heat with central air - one unit in the attic, one in the basement
I can finally put an end to using this beat down St Croix SCF unit...its been trouble since day 1 (here at my current house)...I bought it used on CL - it's never worked right. I have narrowed many of the issues down to being a warped front so the door gasket doesnt seal, and also too much static pressure in my HVAC ducts...it just won't maintain temp if its 25 or less outside, and when it heats up it sucks air and makes a brick in the burn pot... I may tare it down and do some work to it this summer and potentially use it to heat my new garage.
I'll post pics of the Tarm install and the Accentra.... Might not make this winter - garage is getting concrete poured tomorrow, and lots more finish work to do inside the other structure, but we are finally getting there...
