Castile exhaust motor not right

Good morning everyone. I am having a issue at start up with my quad castile. I just installed a new exhaust blower the other day and now when I go to plug it in it sounds like it's not getting full power. When I move the stat up to call for heat the motor instantly dies not allowing start up, then the motor starts pulsing. I am also getting 5 blinking blue lights on the control board. Any ideas? I may just put the original motor back on. I bought a fasco motor instead of going with the original stock motor.
 
What is the current draw on the old motor versus the new motor?
 
I would recommend in the future getting the Harman comb. blower and putting that on, nicer than the oem quad and when I was working for a dealer of Harman and quad it was cheaper too, I only stocked the Harman comb. blowers and put them on everything, harmans, quads, enviro's, country flame, etc....

Thanks for the tip on the harman. I will look into it. The new motor is 115 V .6a 60 hz. The old one is 120V .54a 60 hz. I went off info from the seller this would work on a castile.
 
Does the motor work if you just hotwire it to a plug and an outlet? What motor is it? Make? Pictures???
 
The Hot wire into plug outlet went well and motor runs like a champ! I am re doing my wire connections to make sure I am getting good contact. It looks like a wiring issue as of right now.
 
Sounds that way. If it still doesn't work, I guess you could put the old one back in unless it burned out to see if it works. Hopefully, you didn't do anything to kill the control box. What was wrong with the old one?
 
I am starting to get worried my control box has taken a hit. I am plugging in the stove and getting no response now, I check the fuse and it looks to be shot. I sure hope and pray the fuse is the only thing. I will be getting a new one tomorrow to see. I am going to re install the old for the remainder of the season. It seems like it's getting slow and slowly dying. It should make it the rest of the season. I pulled it and replace it since I already had the stove out replacing pipe. I was trying to kill two birds with one stone, but this could have really cost me.
 
Well, let's hope that it was just a short somewhere that popped the fuse. You don't have my luck so you should be fine!!!!! :)
 
The way my luck is going lately it probably is shot. I'm just all in all getting frustrated with this stove right now and I'm not sure how much more money I can pump into it. We shall see tomorrow
 
Don't worry about swapping blowers,it worked direct.Concentrate on why fuse blew,pinch a wire somewhere?You had one problem,now have 2.Erattic operation probably a air flow problem,as that is the system you were working on.May have ashes blocking something,bad gasket,etc.,which would also explain old motor not sounding right.Check all wiring before new fuse install.

Very true stuff, bob. Especially after he found the blown fuse. That doesn't happen all by itself. I originally suggested putting the old one back in when the new one started 'pulsing' to see if the symptom followed the motor.

Neither this one or your Fasco have the external fan though but it doesn't seem to bother them.

This is what I was going to do after I check the wires to see if I was getting a good connection on the new motor. Once I thought the connections were good I wanted to try it one more time before outing the old motor back in.That is when I discovered the stove would not turn on, and saw the blown fuse.
 
Reporting back with very good news:
Replaced fuse and control board is ok, thank god:)

Also got the new blower working correctly. I had the wires mixed and wired wrong. The correct way was both white wires in one female terminal and the single blue in the other terminal. I crimped on new female and male connectors instead of wire nuts for a better and secure connection. Stove has been running a hour with no major signs of problems. I am getting a slight whine noise off and on, but other then that so far so good. The new snap disc seems to be working better as well with the blower kicking on at 110 and off at 90. It feels great to be back on pellet heat and not central heat.
