so what is the disadvantages and advantages of cat stove and an non cat stove, ?im looking at englander stoves, are they all noncat?

I think all current englanders are non-cat, as are most stoves on the market. Cat offers better performance at lower outputs and longer burns (in general).....non-cats heat up faster, and may require less parts and service over the years.

The new Englanders are non cat. They use to make a cat stove years ago.

As far as cat vs non cat, I don't want to start another war, but from my experience the cat stove has a longer slower burn, a more even heat output, and a little better efficiency.

The non cat stove has a livelier show in the firebox, quicker to heat up, and a little less maintenance.
