Century Insert on Sale

If anyone is interested in a small insert Northern Tool just reduced the price on the Century made by SBI from $799.99 to $640.00. I believe the firebox size is only 1.45 cu ft. but the price is excellent.

Great price, I like mine. 2.0 firebox, but still on the small side for sure.

It doesn't look too different from my Osburn 2000 insert, also made by SBI, which cost a whole lot more than that Century. The door on the Century hinges on the right instead of left on the Osburn, but the door shape looks the same with 3 flat edges and a slightly curved top edge. If I had to do it again, I think I'd buy the Century and pocket the cost difference.

The Osburn 2000 is NOT the same as the Century. Trust me, I owned the Century and did a TON of research to replace it (the stove just didn't cut it for me). The firebox size of the Century is 1.45 cuft NOT 2.0 that Northern shows - check out the Century website - they have updated their specs.

Be all means, the Century stove is a decent stove - a great stove for the price. But, it is quite small and doesn't fit much wood. The biggest drawback to the Century firebox is the fact that the height at the rear is about 2" shorter than the height at the front (sloped top) so you are limited to only one piece of wood fitting height wise in the back once you get a bed of coals in there.

That is an amazing price though - IF you need to heat 800sqft or so this is the way to do it on the cheap...
