Change Garn flue from horz to vert.

I would like to have a vertical flue because the smoke on start up and cool down soots the side of my shed. I have read the owners manual and it calls for a class 1 flue outdoors, I already have the class 1 passing through the wall. Do I really need class1 after that as I am not going through the roof? I was going to attach the chimney to the eve with a proper bracket. I know that I sound cheap but the class 1 setup is about $1000.

There are a variety of reasons "Class A" or "Class 1" or "UL 103-HT" pipe is required on the outside of buildings. Corrosion resistance, insulation (supports maintaining flue temp) and clearance to combustibles to name a few.

also the class 1 is insulated, easier to warm up and slower to cool down, less flyash will stick to the sides maintaing designed cfm through the hx system

I looked through a NFPA ? book a while backand the capacity of an UN insulated stove pipe is almost UN believeable how fast it drops off vs insulated.

Thankyou for your input, I will go with the proper flue , but I'll try to get a better deal than local suppliers.
