Notice where it says "This type of lake-effect activity in April is unheard of!

------------------
Tom Moore, Sr. Meteorologist, The Weather Channel Fri Apr 6, 6:52 PM ET

A fresh shot of very cold air over the Great Lakes will keep the lake-effect snow machine active through the weekend. This type of lake-effect activity in April is unheard of. Another 1-2 feet of snow is possible locally through late Saturday in New York's Tug Hill Plateau, and up to another foot may fall in the U.P. of Michigan. parts of upper Michigan have already picked up over 40 inches of snow over the last 3 days. Freeze warnings stretch from the Mid-Atlantic States to the Ohio Valley, Deep South, and Southern Plains. A light frost may be witnessed Saturday morning as far south as Mobile, Ala., and Tallahassee, Fla. Winter storm watches are posted for parts of the Southern High Plains into Saturday. Up to 6" of new snow may accumulate in the Texas Panhandle. Also, some wet snow may fall Saturday in some unusual places in north or central Texas. if Dallas picks up any measurable snow this weeeknd it would be the forst time on record for the month of April. A disturbance aloft will create an area of low pressure off of the Middle Atlantic Coast by early Saturday. Light snow accumulation is possible from the Baltimore-Washington area, through the Chesapeake Bay, to the Del-Mar-Va Peninsula.

Yep. Just saw that we are expecting two inches plus! Stoves have been running since day before yesterday.

I heard today that this will be the coldest Easter in 37 years. Crazy.

Global Colding.

There is a huge antic dome of cold air moving south. I think we are on the down side of the warm pacific air pushing up into Canada , now cooled and moving south. When the first models for warming were run, periods of great temperature change hot and cold off season air were predicted. That was about 10 years ago. I wonder what the models are saying now for the next ten years?

Over on the left coast we broke the record high for today by 5 degrees. 78 at SeaTac airport. But we're supposed to be wet and cool by Monday or Tuesday.

Practically no sun this week we have to be averaging 10 degrees or more below normal. I though I would be building up wood supplies not depleating them.

With Easter dinner here, it will be more like thanksgiving with both stoves running. Since Jan one we are running 2.5 degrees below normal and we had a real warm start in Jan.
I am approaching the 6th cord used But the house is warm

No kidding I am going up to Sugarbush to ski early this week - if anyone lives near and wants to join me for a couple runs and a beer, let me know!
Packed Powder and cold temps and no people - and relatively cheap tix and lodging - can't beat it. Western skiing in the east!

Hey, when life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade! I'll bring my snowshoes and sled and maybe even drop in on some clients and old friends......might even scare up some new biz....

Had 6 inches of a beautiful coating on Thursday. Branches, wires, pines, etc were all covered in a mantle of white. I wish I had my camera.
Right now it's 17 degrees outside and the stove is keeping us toasty.
But this is really not unusual. I can remember it snowing as early as Columbus Day and as late as Mother's Day. I know because I was outdoors doing craft shows at the time. Those canopies do NOT like snow!

Yeah Guys It's cold here in Maryland too. I have all my next year wood stacked by month..Oct,Poplar. Nov , Mixed Poplar-red oak. Dec,hickory-locust...etc. I'm now burning Oct-poplar....thank goodness I have LOTS of poplar...Global warming??? Maybe if Algore heated with wood that He prepared he would change his toon....

That confirms what I already know - everyone from VT. sells tie-dye T-Shirts! :shut:

Yep. 30 degrees here this morning. still snowing. It's quite beautiful . Some of my Azalias are in full bloom and have a nice coating of snow. Quite the contrast. The Pear tree doesn't really show the difference sine the blooms are white anyway. This is the only snow we had this year. Just like BB I started the stove 2 nichts ago and have been rolling ever since.

Not been above 30 degrees now for a few days and there is snow on the ground. More cold and snow showers expected through next week. At least we finally got rid of the high wind.

Present temperature 23 @ 11:45 am

Any one for roast ground hog !
In January and December I was thinking " We are going to pay for this" nice weather. Did not want to say anything then. Should have knocked on the wood pile at the thought then.

Same as BeGreen - almost too warm yesterday. Glad I got the lawn mowed because it's back to the usual Oregon weather today. Hey BeGreen, do we even remember what snow looks like

It'll be another outdoor day for me as long as the rain holds off. I did about 3 hrs of mowing yesterday. That should hold it for a week :-). I sort of remember what snow is like, but if I need a reminder I just look at the mountains. There's still lots of snow on them.

Snow globe conditions here still! Mow away!, Do it twice, once each way, roll it, even feed it! The snow stopped all the thoughts of that here for at least a week. Two less weeks of mowing. :)

AHHHH to mow the lawn again....what I wouldn't give to do that. Unfortunately on our side of the world, we just have mud up to your ankles in the backyard! :ahhh: All the rain/snow/freezing/ground thawing....the dogs drag the mud into the house....I'm a slave to these damned floors! We haven't had our stove off yet since January! I remember a couple of years ago we had cold weather until June! I hope the mud dries up soon and the grass retakes.....if not.....SOD!

Id just like a little less rain so I can go till the manure into the garden....if I try it now, Im ankle-deep in manure, or deeper......must be like attending the Democratic Convention.

It's cold here in Maryland. Been burning the wood I hoped to use next winter. God willing I'm still here. I'll have wood but not 2 year old wood.

Oh you mean the Dem Convention where the local demo leaders rushed the distruction of the old 93 highway resulting in the flood gates of the "Big Dig"???? The shutdown of local Boston businesses because all highways around the fleet center were shut down so they could have the Dem Convention at the fleet center instead of the BRAND NEW Convention Center a couple of miles away? Or the Kennedy Gardens that are to be built on top of the big dig tunnels? It will be interesting to see what the root systems do to the ceiling tiles! Oh thats right, they had to scrub the idea for trees realizing the earth base would not be deep enough....must of been a Republican that realized that!

It's OK, the Kennedy's are more into grass-roots and Live Preserver's any way... At least Teddy won't be there, there aren't any bridges!
