I have another thread for our stove install started on the forum, but I wanted ask a standalone question regarding the chimney install. We are having a local company do the chimney installation. My question regards the two options that we could do when coming up to the roof of the house. We are going to come out of the stove turn 90 deg. go through the wall to a clean out "T" then go up the side of the house. We can go two routes according to our installer he originally quoted option 1. our total chimney height will be close to 30'
1). go through the soffit and fascia and flash it in with a roof peak flashing
2). use two 15 deg. offsets to come out away from the soffit and fascia
I do not like poking holes in roofs if it is not necessary, but I am more then willing to do so if the two 15 deg offsets will cause issues...I know that every twist and turn increase drag on the rising gases and will reduce the draft potential of the system.
