Ok fellas. Got a couple questions. I know I will get slack because this is probably on here somewhere.
Installed the summers heat smartstove or (Englander Madison). Over the weekend. got about 4'6" to the ceiling of sellkirk double wall that contains two 45 elbows back to back to get around a truss(corner install). From there I have 9 feet of chimney pipe with 18 inches of that being in the attic.(low pitch.) so that puts about 7 feet out of roof and maybe 2 over over peak of lower level of house. I do have the locking bands and guy kit. Ok now that you have a picture of my install heres the thing I did a little break in fire.(little). Because I'm waiting on inspection:oops:. that consisted of a few little pieces of 1x4 scrap and little 2 inch sticks essentially. it would burn fine with stove door cracked (draft was great cracked)but die out when I shut door. no negative pressure I have sliding door 2 feet away and was open about a foot. it was 50 degrees, sunny, and windy out maybe too mild? kindling not hot enough?I guess my biggest question is I'm really only at about 13.5 feet total and if I add another 2 feet to hit that 15 ft mark it puts about 9 ft out the roof which I'm fine with but is there a limit on size out of the roof where its considered unstable? like I said I apologize in advance I'm sure I'm missing it

Welcome. This stove is too new for us to have seen it under a wide range of installations but it does sound like too short a chimney combined with mild outside temps could be working against good draft.

thanks begreen. Finally got the inspection done and over with today so I could start an actual real fire. I think the first break in fire between and warmer temps and me being overly conservative on amount of heat I put in it was causing my issue. got it going today(although it is 10 degrees cooler) and is burning fine. trying to get passed the learning curve of the start up but in due time I'm sure.

Good deal. Keep us posted on progress.

Mitchell I am glad to hear you are liking your new stove I will be installing the same one in a week or so. I don't have the stove home yet to measure off of could you tell me how many inches it is from the back of the stove to the center of the flue? I have to order the flue pipe and don't know if I will need any kind of off set yet, I don't want to special order spendy 45's if I don't need to use them. Thanks.

no problem. its 9 inches from back of stove to center of flue outlet. the blower sits off the back about 6-61/4". yea before I did my install I tried to find that and couldn't ended up needing a couple 45s but is what it is.

Yeah I couldn't find it so thanks for letting me know. I am really hope when I get the rest of my heatdisapator removed the flue will line up and I won't need any off set at all.

your welcome. only had one good fire in it so far. and so far so good. the automatic air setback is a nice feature. although I found myself double checking it to make sure it was working correctly and not running wide open.
