Chimney/thimble connect question (picture)

there was a 9" piece of insulated pipe included in my through the wall kit and I'm going through block. It seems like maybe a 12" would clear a little better but I'm attaching a picture and would appreciate suggestions on if that's is totally fine or I should get a 12" piece. Thanks so much.

So after further investigation 12" will be better, however I'm curious, does the class A go right up again the black thimble and the adapter from the black pipe into the class A?

The directions that came with it should say. Every system is a little different, some want 2-3" protruding into the room. Looks like you have Dura-Plus? I've never installed that stuff, but it does seem like the adaptor does go right at the thimble.. I think their chimney adaptor is made into a short piece of chimney. Do you have the adaptor? Did the instructions give any detail?

Yea you are right I don't know how I missed that in the directions I read the manual like 5 times! I need a twelve inch piece of pipe and that should come into the room a bit and I can scooch the thimble to ensure there's a connection with the black pipe and insulated. Thanks man. It sucks because for some reason no one around me has any 12" duraplus pieces!

I found 2 6" at my nearest store that should work pretty well. These things are a real pain to disassemble! This install is not really working with me but it will eventually be nice and tight

I believe that you will find that you loose about 1.5" every time you make a connection, so your 2 pieces of 6" sections will only give you 10.5" of pipe. Not sure if that will be long enough to get through the thimble.

Actually I'm going to attach a 6" o the 9". Duratech told me have two 9" but that's wayyyyy to long. I'm thinkin if I add a 6" on that'll be snug as a bug

Way too long? You need to be through the wall far enough so that your 90 on your stovepipe has clearance to the wall.

I see now sorry webby! I should extend far enough with the 6" attached to the 9". I don't think I was completely realizing what needs to happen. Also, on my intrepid 2, am I missing something on the flue collar for a tight connection on the black pipe I'm not sure I'm seeing this right...does it get screwed or bolted in? Or is there some sort of adapter?

So for the black pipe the notched/ridged end goes away from the stove? Or into the stove? Sorry it's my first time but I'm guessing away? Don't see it in the manual

That giant gap isn't gonna work! You will need to lay the pipe on the ground and work it out to round. That's one reason we never use that snap lock pipe.. Once it's round, shoot screws through the flue collar and through the pipe.

That pipe will be at least 18" away from the wall right?

Yea that's what I was thinking tap it to flue collar! It is block all around this install so that is nice but getting heat shields and wall boards just in case! Can never be to careful!

I sure wouldn't spend too much time and money on it if it's already non-combustible.

I do understand that, however, this is my first one and I'm doing it by the book and acting like it is just to be safe and so it's done 110% correct. It sucks, but I actually ordered a 6 inch extension and a 9" for through the wall just in case the 6" doesn't cut it. I suppose it's better to have more and I can always return it. I was always taught measure twice cut once which is kind of the same principle in a different aspect. Thanks so much for the help I am pretty confident in this install!
