Just curious if anyone knows of a sure fire way to ward off Chipmunks? They seem to be everywhere this year!! Wondering if theres a method to keep those yard burpers away...lol Thanks

My wife combs our cats and puts the hair where the boogers have been digging.Seems to ward them off fine.
I know what you mean, I was working in the garage yesterday and one ran across my feet. The little SOB made me spill my beer. I'm setting the live trap today.
I would do something such as a trap but it seems theres so many this year....must of had a cold winter lol @ the beer lol

I've tried hav-a-hearts and relocations (not legal in many locales, including here).
Relocation requires many miles and preferrably many non-forded rivers, otherwise they may be home before you.
They also seem to enjoy making more overnite, just to spite you.

Crush up some D-con, mix it with peanut butter, make balls out of it. Then roll it in some bird seed. Place it near the holes or areas they have been seen.

5 gallon pail with 8" of water. Place bucket where you see them regularly.
Place a 3 foot or longer board from ground up to edge of bucket.
Put a handful of sunflower seeds in pail, in water and get ready to remove drowned rats.
My mom has been going crazy dealin' with these little bastages for the last 2-3 years. I told her about this little trick I learned and she has caught 27 in the last month.

They are awfully cute and I've never noticed that they do any real damage. We do have 3 cats who are outdoors from sun up 'til sun down, though, and I see dead chippies on a regular basis though in much smaller numbers than mice and voles. If you're really set on getting rid of them I'd opt for a couple of young cats or a rat trap over the D Con route... too many other animals that will eat carrion are sickened or die because of it, too. Maybe even your dog or your neighbor's...

I like to just eat 'em raw while they're still struggling to get away. Learned it from one of my cats. We do a survival off-site each year, and I've learned a lot from them. Rick

Same here . . . they don't bother me . . . or eat all of my bird food like the gray squirrels.
Of course, the only ones that love the chipmunks more than me are my cats who apparently think of them as disposable play toys.
