Hello
What do you guys do?
I got the wire wheel on the drill driver to get a layer of the black carbon off.
Then put it in the Blasting Cabinet and blasted with white aluminum oxide.
This cleaned it up well with a dull finish
The last step I used the wire wheel again to give it a nice shiny polished finish!
Pic 1 - Dirty wear plate
Pic 2 - wire wheeling the first layer off
Pic 3 & 4 - Blasting with the white aluminum oxide
Pic 5 & 6 - made it shiny with the wire wheel
Pic 7 - All done!
See my blast media and blast cabinet pics here

Looks good, but honestly I just burn pellets on mine. I have my stove setup to burn so efficiently, i dont get the carbon buildup that some talk about here just fine ash. Or maybe i am just livin right...

Wow, I just scrape my burn pot (Harmon XXV) for few seconds everyday when I shutdown for 30 min. Not really necessary unless burn holes get covered. Has not happened yet in almost 2 seasons. But hey it's pretty and should Win award for Cleaning Pellet StovE!

I use a 3" putty knife when I get build-up, usually scrapes right off, but sometimes there are some stubborn bumps, one of my Englander's is a 2006, the other a 2008; eventually you will get the build up, give it a few years.

Yea I have to agree I never have to go though all that either. Just have ash. But I will say my last batch of easyblaze is terrible. I get a big ball of very hard carbon or something made from the filler they decided to start using. Luckily it doesn’t stick to the plate. It just floats in the ash and gets bigger and bigger through out the day until I remove it after work. Looks like I’ll be changing brands again.

I burn elcheapo green supremes from home depot $4 a bag. I only get fine ash. I may have my air adjusted on the high side but no clinkers for me. Have never scraped anything. Burned about 36 bags since dec 5th install.

I tried them this year in a pinch and was impressed. I should have bought a ton instead of my usual ‍♂️

You're Crazy! Like me that is. I did that once on my second or third year.
Since then, I only scrape it off with a putty knife to knock off anything that is stuck to the plate.
