Does anyone use cooper nickel HX for a pool HX? They are nearly indestructible and last a very long time. They are the only HX that you can use with salt water pools that I know of. The problem is they are hard to get and are very expensive. Does anyone use these and have a good distributor that you could hook me up with? or just a contact?

Cupro-nickel is certainly a durable alloy, even in salt water, as you point out. There are uses for them in marine engineering, but as you point out they are very expensive. What, if I may ask, is the intended aplication?

Cupronickel (90/10 copper-nickel) is extremely durable for salt water use. That's all that's used in the marine industry. They last a long time though they still need anodes (zincs) changed out periodically. I would be concerned about copper leaching out and staining vinyl liners over time. Treatment to stop that may be needed. Probably is a slow process. Even the zinc metal will end up in the pool. I'm not sure if they are used in this application but titanium seems the way to go. Pool pros may know the answer to this.

Not long ago I received a cupronickel HX valued at 80,000 grand that was going to be scrapped out. That and titanium is priced out of sight.

I use them for a pool HX and only sell them if the customer wants the quality and can spend the money. Better them than me. They do work very good in salt water applications. The titanium HX that I use were developing leaks in the plastic ends and were close in price so I switched and have had no problems.
