A [Connecticut] pellet company under fire for delivery problems has filed for bankruptcy.

Customers of New England Pellet Company in Enfield contacted News Channel 8 last year after they paid for pellets but did not receive delivery.

The Count on 8 investigation prompted Attorney General Richard Blumenthal to step in. A lawsuit has been filed and Blumenthal says he will fight the bankruptcy saying, "We are going to go to federal court and try and stop them from shutting down. We want to hold this company accountable, especially in the coldest months of the year when they have left their consumers out in the cold."

The company says it owes as much as $1 million to about 300 customers.

The first meeting for creditors is February 9th at New Haven Federal Court.

Interesting - wonder if there's anyone here who's out in the cold as a result of this company?

One million to 300 customers??? Thats $3,300 worth of pellets per account. How much does it take to run a pellet stove anyhow??

Sad to hear of pre-paid customers getting screwed thats for sure. Especially in todays world.
