Cubex hardwood pellets...low ash

Here's a pic of my fire pot after about 8 hours of burning....no ash in the pot! With everything else I've tried so far there would have been ash build up right to the end of the pot. Unfortunately I didn't start with a clean ash pan so I don't know how much is blown into there but I assume most of it is going up the chimney.

Have the same stove and burning new england wood pellets and have a ton of ash. Where did you pick up the cubex?

I got them from Hamshaw Lumber in Keene back in September. I looked at the fire pot at 3am this morning as I was leaving for the airport and it looks the same. Amazing as compared to my past experience with other pellets.

ok, I'm more towards the coast, found their website and looks like they stock at various stores but might be shortages. I'll have to check places out and look around.

Batch variance?...the bag I tried last winter made lots of ash. Right up there with GS and GT. I have the same stove.

I have Cubex and I have heavier ash buildup than OP. These pellets are from a hardwood flooring company and are a by product of their manufacturing. I assume the batches vary based on what wood they are using for flooring at a given time of year. The ratios vary but I may be wrong.

The packaging lists maple, oak, birch, cherry and a couple of other hard woods with varying different levels of ash output when burned. They do advertise up to 9000 btu/h. My experience so far has been positive... they burn hot.... but they do output some dark clumpy ash as a result.

I have had great luck with them but this year after all the hype about Okies decided to go with them ..time will tell if its a good move!

NEWP would build an ash cake in my stove too! I had a ton of them to burn last year and was so happy when I threw out the last bag. Of the pellets I have burned, the 'Fireside Ultra' and 'Heat Resource' brands had zero buildup in the pot no matter how long I burned.

Cubex had some good stuff a few years back (i burned them in 2009), then fell off a bit from what i've read on here over the past few years. Hope they are coming back on track
