Hi everyone,

I'm considering replacing an older wood stove by a pellet stove.

I'm not sure I'm clear as to what is defined as an alcove in the installation information. Is it just a reduced ceiling height?

I understand the minimum distance from combustible materials that are listed in each specific stove's installation manual. What if the walls are made of actual stone or bricks? I know a certain clearance is a good thing in order to have access to different areas of the pellet stove, but I'm not sure what applies in terms of conformity when the walls are made of a non-combustible material.

Thanks in advance for your help in this first post of many that will probably follow

The definition of alcove clearances will be listed in the install manual for each particular stove.
If you know which one you want to install, download the manual & see if it'll work in your situation.
If you have a question about what the manual says, post it, & we can help with the interpretation...
