I see something about a difference between version 2 and 3 but I'm not familiar with the stove at all, just like the way it looks, dimensions etc. What is the difference between the 3 versions exactly? When did they start making the Austral, #1 version?
 
#1 had a welded-in baffle. Not the best design for the long-haul. They dropped this in #2 for a c-cast baffle. #3 is the EPA 2020 update.
 
I'm not sure of how many changes were done, but one is more efficient secondary combustion to meet the 2020 requirements. The firebox is different is subtle ways. Like the baffle and insulation, an added flame shield, different front brick config, etc.
