Dirty wall from exhaust?

just noticed today the wall outside where the exhaust comes out is turning brown. did not notice the wall brown this past summer? is this normal to happen when using the stove and it just washes off
with a good rain? or is there something wrong with my stove?

In your sig it says "PelPro Bay View Insert" so I'm trying to figure out why it wasn't vented into an existing flue?

you can build a hearth around an insert, happens all the time with gas units.

A lot of pellet inserts have optional zero clearance cans that allow the insert to be installed in a wall with no class A fireplace. Gas inserts need a Class A fireplace to be installed. Zero clearance gas fireplaces can be installed in a wall without a class A fireplace. I have not seen ZC cans for gas inserts since the late 80's early 90's.

Yep, the Edge 60. Its a sleek looking stove. Basically just a Mt. Vernon insert, thats very contemporary.

One reason why I went with my nozzle setup.

My termination cap does not resemble the inner workings of the unique discharge nozzle of the Greenheck Vektorâ„¢ High Plume Dilution Blower in the link you provided.

For example it does not have a vektor fan in it. Although I agree it does allow dillution air to enter at the termination. My opinion is the exhaust pressure is no greater than what

the combustion blower produces on my setup. I could be wrong. Just sayin.

Those are fan driven powered exhausts, not passive. Similar nozzle, but that's about all in common.

Yes, but the product products you linked to are placed at the end of a vent run to literally suck out exhaust through the entire run. Pellet stoves are designed to exhaust the fumes from the firebox, it then pushes the gases through the vent run. Very different principle..ie. sucking vs. blowing.

The fan is upstream of the nozzle in both situations. Still not convincing me that they are very different....

The hood type caps push the exhaust down but really the exhaust wants to go up so you just up with a mass of slow moving soot-loaded air moving back towards the house.

The jet cap doesn't do anything to boost the exhaust flow but what it DOESN'T do is blow the exhaust downward and it might be enough to get the exhaust away from the house to the point where it can no longer can drift back and contact the siding.

I believe just the opposite. Wish I had an anemometer and I could measure the airflow with and without the nozzle for you.

Remember that "air flow" is made up of two components; Velocity and Volume. If you push air through a 3" vent the volume and velocity will remain the same, except for friction losses over the distance, elbows etc. However, if you change the diameter, i.e. a nozzle, you will increase the velocity at the exit and therefore the air will travel further away from the nozzle. but the smaller orifice will cause backpressure and put additional load on your combustion fan. If you're close to the EVL limit, I would not recommend a nozzle that reduces the size of the exit orifice.

how far out can i go? and what kind of piping is recommended? couldnt i just turn the hood "up" or to the side?
yes thats the air inlet by the exhaust, not sure if its sealed?

the house was built new four years ago and the previous owners had a hearth built with a mantel. there is a gas line behind the stove for
a gas fireplace to be installed if desired.
