Lots of logs floating around my yard (including a 50" diameter monster trunk)...

Seeing some nice figure and spalt in some of the wood I've been splitting so I figured I'd try and use some of the 80/20 extruded aluminum that I had on hand to bolt together a chainsaw mill.

Currently using a 32" bar on my 372xp.... Started out with a full comp chain, solely because I wanted to compare the fullcomp to the ripping chain I just got in the mail. took a longgg time to rip a 5' long, ~17-20" wide slab. As can been seen in one of the pics... not seeing chips, but rather sawdust... no good.

The only thing I didn't have on hand were a couple of 80/20 stanchions ($5 each on ebay) and a couple of 1" diameter foot long aluminum rods ($10 each on ebay)... not bad for a $30 investment.

I've got a 2101xp en route to my house :) from ebay, fingers crossed that it'll be ready to rumble. 32" is doable on the 372xp, operative word is 'doable'. Perhaps things will be a bit better with the ripping chain.
