I am thinking of putting something on my tractor to carry tools and saw. I need to find something that will hold about as much as can fit into one of those large plastic rubbermaid totes. I was using one of those to put my saw, chain oil, small mixed fuel gas can, chaps, etc. in and would bungy it down to the seat on the backhoe behind operator seat. But this is not sturdy enough and I will not be doing any longer for fear of having it come off and dumping everything. Any ideas let me know.

Box with hinged lid made from 3/4 plywood with deck screws & 2 x 2 for inside corner braces would work great.Might weigh 20-30 lbs empty depending on size, but would be practically indestructible, impervious to cold, heat or UV rays from the sun.Very simple to build too,no lid flying off or loose parts.Just use a small hook & eye screwed to the edge of lid & front of box, even put a hasp & padlock on it later if you want.

Plus are sturdy enough to use as a temp step stool if you need a few inches height in reaching or working on something, wont tip over with you like a upside down 5 gallon empty bucket....

Sounds good Thistle. Trouble is finding a good spot to mount it on the tractor. I would like to be able to mount it permanently without it being in the way of anything.

On certain tractors (maybe a spot for weights in front or something) they have a plate mounted or similar attachment, some look like old wire milk crate with the sides cut on the diagonal. That's gonna be tough,my luck is make something permanent, its in the road next time you need that space for something else.

I will take some up close pics and post a few ideas some day next week when I have time to work on it. Get back to you guys on it.
