Do you really have to cover your stacks?

I only top cover the wood I'm burning for the current season. I hate having to deal with snow when I'm bringing wood in.

If I had a lot of softer type wood I would probably cover them sooner. The white ash and oak that is my primary wood seems to do fine without a cover.
