Does anyone know if the door gasket on a Quadrafire Castille goes all the way around the door?
I had to replace mine, and noticed that on one end (I thought the bottom), there
was only the 'tadpole flap' on the inside between the door and the fire box, instead
of the actual rope, which was on the other 3 sides. I then took the old one off, and
put the new one on, and I think I screwed it up. I have the rope on the inside of
the top and the 2 sides, but on the bottom I have the tadpole flap on the 'outside' (between
the glass and the frame the glass sets in). I'm now getting a lot of soot on the glass,
and I'm guessing the gasket is the problem. Thanks very much for any info.

No, the gasket is only supposed to be on three sides. On the fourth side the stove pulls air in for the airwash that helps keep the glass clean, that is why you have sooty glass.

Parrot Head is absolutely correct. I had a question about the door gasket of my Castile also because I noticed that the Castile in the stove shop had a door gasket that wrapped around the bottom of the door and on both sides, but my door gasket is wrapped around the top of my door and both sides. I ended up calling Quadra-Fire tech support and got an interesting answer to my question.

You can see what I mean in this thread.
