Does anyone recommend any particular drain snake auger? We have some drains that are plugged up mostly by roots. Had a pro over last year and he had the big Milwaukee drain machine and he managed to unclog one of the foundation drains. Pulled out a bunch of roots with it. $400 for that 1 hour job. I figured I'd spend the cash on one rather than pay for another job.

Will probably need about 100 ft in length.

Thanks

Maybe you can rent one? Just see if they have a commercial one.

Worked in a correctional facility for a while, the plumber has an industrial Rigid for drains, no roots but towels, blankets, clothing and god knows what else. I would think the cost of a snake to handle roots would be very expensive.

I rented one from Home Depot once. Kind of hard to beat their price, and they get to store/maintain it.

Definitely need to rent one. Your going to need the cutter head on it as well to gut out all the roots.. This is just going to be a bandaid for maby a year or 2. If roots have made it into the pipe they will continue to do so.

Bandaid is going to have to do for the time being. The pipe goes in wonky directions under the basement slab. No funds remain to tear up that floor again 😄

Did a search and HD did not have any rental tools. A place called D&G Rentals did have one for $97 a day. Brought it home and snaked the drain. Five minutes in and the water rushed out. It felt like a simple block as there was not any struggle or resistance besides the bends of the pipes. I also found out which drain pipe this flows out of in the woods (three pipes out there). Very excited to get that cleared out.

We will buy a decent one to keep on hand since we know it works. This was a good test.
