Drolet 1800 insert not drawing fresh air

How did you fit a manual damper? Was this on an insert? I'm having a hard time controlling my Drolet 1500i with a full load once it heats up.
Damper can fit in the appliance adapter. Install can be done with a long 1/4” drill bit. Drill through both sides with the long bit. Pull the baffle and install the damper. I don’t run the surround so the handle is accessible.

I've seen people make a long rod into the handle/linkage on a recessed damper

Get to thinking of it, a piece of rod with a partially open eye bent on the end could be used to reach back in to adjust the damper too...
