I'm looking at a Drolet Legend 1 and was wondering if anyone had good experiences with it?

The version 1 models had a permananent baffle that was not replaceable IIRC. That is the first thing to check.

I saw a post that it was stainless but didn't realize it was permanent. That may not be an issue as I'm pretty competent at fabrication. Other then that I wonder if the original is comparable to the Legend lll. It seems to have pretty good feedback. I just can't seem to dig much up about the original.

It's a big heater. Other than the baffle, it should work well as long as the stove hasn't been abused.

I need a big heater. A few years ago I tried a epa stove from Lowes and couldn't get it to work right so I returned it and bought an Earth stove. It was fantastic and kept my uninsulated 1200 sq ft home warm and toasty but used alot of wood and I had to sweep the chimney every 2 weeks. Towards the end of last winter Lowes had the same stove on sale ridiculously low so I bought another one. It burns fine but I didn't have it during any seriously cold weather so I'm not sure it will heat the house during cold snaps. This drolet is available to me for a few hundred dollars so I'm thinking of getting it in case the Master Forge from Lowes won't carry the load. The firebox is the same width as the Master Forge but looks like it deeper and maybe a little taller.
