I was up at Whidbey Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whidbey_Island last week and seen quite a few flying around, also see them from time to time when I visit Legion Park here in Everett, cool birds

A male eagle died & the female has severe injuries in Valdez AK a few days ago.

I caught that article. Hell of a way to mate. We are fortunate to have a couple nesting eagles close by. We often have them circling above, catching the thermals while looking out for prey below.
