I picked up a used HP40 insert today on a jobsite that the owner didn't want. (FREE). But he did tell me it had an issue. The stove fires up fine, but when it gets to temperature the blower fans never kick on. From what I have read this must trip a sensor and shut the stove down. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to what may be the root cause?

The blower fan on the earth stoves were at one time controlled by a variable control on the panel (Triac)

The fan could be set to the desired speed, or if you left it alone, there was a snap switch that would turn the blowers on after the stove got to temp.

There is also an overtemp snap that will shut it off if it overheats

You should be able to get a manual for the unit online
(Download)

There will be a schematic in the manual that will be of use in diagnosing the issue.

Very likely a simple issue.
