I've had an Encore 1450 Non-Cat that I've used for about 5 years without too many issues. I started having troubles with the damper handle not working (wouldn't grip properly to close the damper) and had to resort to a pliers to get it opened and closed. This morning I heard a noise and found that the damper opened on its own after an all night burn, and now I can't get it to close again. Has anyone else had this type of issue and do you know if there's an easy repair? Our local VC dealer closed this year, so if it's something I can fix myself I would like to take a shot. Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

Here's a PDF of the Encore 1450 Service Manual I found, maybe this will help. I am having damper issues as well, namely a broken ramp connector bolt, figuring out how to replace the gasket, etc. Good luck.
