Some say the Energex American(eagle on the bag) were a bit ashy. The Energex hardwoods produced in Canada are cleaner burning. Same for the Softwoods in the green bag.

The C&C at $225/ton, that's not to bad of a price for them. Specially as the prices seem a bit higher out your way than in my area(I can still get super premiums for $235 to $240/ton locally). I liked the C&C when I tried them. Heat was decent anyway.
