posting for a friend
he bought a 25-pah from amfm. in sept. when he got it the exhaust fan didn't even turn on after many time of turning on and off it finally freed up and started to turn seems like something was jammed from shipping. was working fine for about a 4 weeks. burning presto logs after that the flame got lazy and glass turned black and very sooty. I know it should be either a fuel, air issue. I checked all gaskets and changed up fuel still same issue. so I blew out with leaf blower and worked fine for a week. seems like this fixed it. it burns clean for a week then issue again, ever week or so I have to blow out the pipe with a blower.
the exhaust was set up straight out wall 3" duravent, into outside 90 to left then T and straight up 4 feet. I figured maybe the 90 was an issue so I now have it straight out the stove no 90 no T no 4 ft run, just a cap and it seems like I only get about 10 days out of it. I use presto logs and somersets
I have an oak and pulling fine. if I raise the intake to 8 and this will buy me another 5 days
even on start up I have a lazy heavy flame but when I blow it out it works perfect.

The next time it slows done and pull the exhaust blower and take a look. The chamber might have been damaged during shipment causing a raised area. Were any ash build up in that area is hitting the fan slowing it down.

What does ESW tech support have to say?

These stoves need to be cleaned out every other day, including the venting.

Nothing personal but if I had a stove that had to be cleaned every 2 days I would run over it with my backhoe.Hope Mike clears this up!

This is from another thread, this is what Mike had to say about the PDVC / PDV & PAH .....

mostly due to lower air allowance , its a bigger pot than many too so the larger the pot the more widely distributed the air, hence , lower velocity. biggest ting with the c model and its big brother the pdv is they really do need to be kept clean , especially the exhaust pathway. newer models we have designed like the pah, ep and ip have a smaller pot a top feed system and a more indirect exhaust pathway which traps ash even at higher velocity I the exhaust stream.

been on hold with esw support each time waited 30 mins and hung up tough to wait all day while at work figured the board is the best way
