I have an Englander 25 PDVC. My top auger stopped feeding pellets, I assumed it needed replacing. After I did that... it still wasnt feeding. It would spin the auger a bit, and then I could hear the motor run, but it wasn't spinning thebauger enough to actually feed anything.

Could this be a jam? And if it is, can I turn the auger by hand after removing the motor, or do I actually need to remove the full auger itself?

When trying to move the nut position on the auger towards the top, it didnt want to budge at all, and looking back now, wondering if that's bc its actually jammed and maybe I should try to force it. I did vacuum all that i could get from the hopper.

Appreciate any help!

Not sure of you stove but mine barely moves when the call for pellets comes. THe motor will sound like its running longer but due to the gearing the auger barely moves.

If you can move the auger by hand then its fine.. I have had poor performance with bad pellets before they were cut to long and they would block the entrance to the auger so it could not grab them, I actually called the manufacturer and they stated they knew of the issue but were doing nothing to fix it at that point

I ended up just going for it this morning. Every time the furnace kicked on overnight, it was like 💸 in my head at $6.50+/gallon right now.

I think I ultimately had a jam. It was VERY hard, but i completed a full 360 degrees of the auger by hand - this is after I vacuumed everything I could get to out. After that, I tossed the old auger back on and it worked fine.

When I thought it was a bad auger motor (bc it always is, right? Lol) it would do the first small rotation (what, like 1/5?), but then it just got stuck in a position and you could see it try to spin, but it wouldnt go anywhere & the motor became tight against the frame.

Through my unjamming session, I didnt find anything odd in there, so maybe just a rogue too long pellet or something, i have no idea.

The auger motors could jam even if they are not attached to the gear. The bearing brackets need to be perfect otherwise it will stall. The other thing that can happen is the gearbox grease can go bad.
