I have an Enviro EF-V that I’ve been running since about 2008. It has run well until recently.

Stove vents (DuraVent?) to a clean-out tee, then vertically through the ceiling and roof—total length of vent is about ten feet, terminated with a cap.

The flame is good—definitely not lazy. However, when I clean my vent pipe, there is more soot than ash and maybe some creosote buildup.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this issue?

Soot and creosote are indications of
1 a maintenance fire when little heat is needed
2 lazy fire incomplete combustion due to lack of combustion air
3 Dirty stove needs a full cleaning.
4 Low-quality pellets.
