Enviro M55 FS Convection Fan

Installed new Turbo blower and it will not come on when stove is turned on. I ran direct power to the fan and it works so the fan is fine. Next I took out the thermostat switch and cleaned and tested it and it worked. The fuse for the fan is good so can someone tell me why it won't work???? Your help as always is much apprecitated.

The new blower should have come with a capacitor. Did you install it with the blower? Pretty sure it needs it to work/start properly.

jtakeman it did come with a capacitor and it is installed. The steps i've taken have been from my dealer. I guess it's time for Enviro to pay for some warranty work.

Make certain you have good connections and convection fans normally wait until the stove heats up before coming on.

smokey I triple checked all connections and the stove ran for about a half hour and still nothing. Thinking tomorrow I may put the old blower in and see what that does or just have to dealer come out...After all it's still under warranty ; )

Ok, but I'd also do a test of the snap disc and its wiring just in case.

Funny that this thread just showed up. My convection blower is on its way out, the bearing race is very loose in the housing and makes for a lot of mechanical noise. I called my dealer and they have a new one in stock, I just need to bring in the original one for a swap. Now I'm concerned that if I bring home the new one and it doesn't work I will be DIW because I don't have the original blower as a backup.

Update...installed new fan switch and got a big NOTHING Getting ready to check all connections for the 5th time. I guess my dealer will be getting another phone call in the morning. If that doesn't work Enviro will be getting a call from a very frustrated customer.

Did you check the convection blower's fuse??

That was the first thing I did when it wouldn't come on. If I'm not mistaken I've changed every part that has anything to do with the blower. I guess the only good thing is it's still under warranty so my dealer will have to come out and fix it. Really wondering if I should have bought the Harman XXV ???

Hey ToddO did you get a chance to try the original blower to see if it work in the stove?

Did you verify that there is voltage at the connector were the blower plugs into the control box harness once the stove has warmed up and the convection blower should be running?

I have the dealer coming out Monday. After all it's still under warranty. I think it's time for Enviro to pay a little of the price I paid back to me. I appreciate all the help/suggestions from the pellet pigs I'll let you know what they find.

I installed the convection blower in my stove yesterday. Everything when smoothly, even did a total cleaning of the hopper and auger assembly.

I am finding that the new convection blower pushes out a lot more air but on the down side is noisier then the old one, not so much air movement noise but motor noise, the hum of the motor is audible. Let me know if you experience the same thing.

Well after a couple hours of trouble shooting...Fan switched changed- nothing. New circuit board installed- nothing. Finally he put another new fan in and finally I have heat Hard to believe a brand new fan wouldnt' work. I did notice it was a little noisier but I don't think it's anything I can't live with.

Do you hear the motor hum or is it just more air noise? I installed the new blower yesterday and noticed that I could hear the motor hum.

Brad I did notice the hum and a slight increase in wind noise but I think after a few days I'll get used to it or i'll turn the TV up louder Didn't run it long because it's in the low 60's today but I'll let you know Wednesday...high of 35. Above all else the wife will be happy

Brad, I have some theories as to what is causing the noise. I don't think it's motor hum on mine. It is more like a faint whine that furnaces can cause due to restrictions in the duct work. I noticed the squirrel cage fins extend out beyond the end of the cage more than the old fan. This may be setting up a whine as the air spills over the edge. Also, the inside round supports within the squirrel cage have some holes in them. As it spins, it the holes may be causing the whine/whistle. Next time I take mine out, I want to tape up the holes with some packing tape and see what happens.

After listening to the stove past few hours the only increase in noise I hear is air movement. Don't really hear any humming noise. I was told by an Enviro rep that they are still working to perfect the new fan. The best thing is that the wife is not complaining about being cold but damn it's warm in here

Noise aside, the new blower is definitely keeping the house warmer. I can feel the warm air from pretty far away now were with the original blower I had to be pretty close to the stove to feel the air coming out. I know it has been a bit warm outside, but since I put the new blower in I the stove has been sipping pellets and the T-stat called for heat for the first time last night. The temps at my place were low 20's last night.

When I first installed my new blower, I accidentally got it too high so that it was touching the ducting that goes into the stove. It made quite a bit of noise. Once I lowered it, the noise went away. But I was experimenting and had a washer under the bottom part of the blower frame to tilt the back end up to get it closer to the ducting as there is a 1/4" gap on mine. If you did a normal install, then I doubt this is your problem.

I've thought about placing a silicone mat under the blower mounting plate to isolate it from the stove frame. It also might help to cut down some noise. Similar to how the exhaust blower is isolated with silicon vibration dampers.

I am surprised they didn't use some type of anti vibration mount. The blower on my beast has rubber mounts that isolate it. I only hear the sound of the air thru the convection tubes.

I have access to UL approved gasket and may give it a try. I will run it around the edges of the mounting tabs on each side of the blower. It may absorb some/any vibrations.
