Enviro M55 missing glass retainer screws.

Hi all. My 2009 Enviro M55 FS Steel has 7 hex/flat-blade screws holding the glass. Two of the screw heads have snapped off (directly above and below the latch), leaving 5 intact. P/N: 50-2065 (only available for the M55 FS) doesn't give specs for these individual screws. I'm afraid to back out a good one (for sizing) because I fear it snapping. I’m planning to drill, extract, and run a tap-and-die to fix the threads instead of buying a new retainer. Looking for any tips or EXPERIENCE before I dive in. And, what size are these screws??? I believe a new retainer would come with screws but I don't see any information. Once you get the retainer off do you think you could get at the broken screw with vice grips? That is the kind of job would like do after you have put another door on it.
