Enviro Maxx problems

Just had new stove installed by a Enviro dealer 3 days ago. No dealer adjustments or help after the install.
The burn pot overflows and unburned pellets fall in to the ash bin and catch fire. So far 3 ash bin fires in 3 days. Flame is bright and active. Heat output is good. Good quality pellets. Heat level on 4, feed rate on 1 (lowest),combustion level 3. I've read owners forums, watched youtube videos and read the owners manual 50 times. I'm really depressed I've spent $4,000.00 for a stove that does not work. Anyone been down this road and have any solutions?

sounds like it needs some more airflow through the burn pot. where is the air shutter set to right now? As a baseline i usally set the know about a inch of the side panel.

Is the stove already paid for in full. I'd tell the dealer get it running or come and pick it up. Thats why i always use a credit card to make the purchase than pay it off at the end of the month. If the dealer thinks he won't be paid he'll make it right. 4K and 3 days later it shouldn't come down to this

The slide damper needs to be pulled out slightly. The pellets should be burning completely, not building up in the burnpot. If that doesn't work I would try a different pellet to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for your comments. The dealer came out and checked all my settings and ended up at the same settings I had. Looked fine at bedtime, but had another 10lbs overflowed in the ash bin this morning. We are using Pennington premium pellets, which the dealer likes,everything else checked as mentioned above. Gauge readings are OK. Have the feed rate on the lowest possible setting, but when the temp reaches the set point, the stove goes from high to low and if on low long enough, the pellets pile up. The lowest feed setting is dumping about 10 pellets every 10 seconds and there is no lower setting. I wish there was, because I think 10 pellets every 30 seconds would probably fix the issue. The dealer is to contact the factory regional rep to discuss. I have stopped payment on my check and told him, they can have it back if they can not get it working correctly. If any of you have a Maxx, please check to see about how any pellets and how many seconds between feed, your low feed setting is. Thanks,

sorry to hear about your stove i have the same stove vistaflame 170 same as the maxx have you tried resetting the control board,never had a problem like yours have had the stove 4 plus years,other than cleanings not 1 issues at all other than my f up,burning up control board,the board is made for a number of enviro stoves and has to be programed your stove may just be programed for a different enviro stove,worth a try

From you last post the stove needs more air running thru it. To keep these stove running right on low, they have to be right on the exact spot for airflow and it isn't always what the factory recommends. I would start pulling the air slider out 1/8 of a inch and letting it run for a couple hours to see what it does and keep adjusting slowly until it doesn't overflow. One other trick we have done on problem stoves it to drill out all the holes in the bottom of the burn pot to 1/4 inch. It doesn't seem like your taking much out as your drilling but it allows more air in the at the bottom which allows for a better burn, once the burn pot get dirty

Thanks, where would I find instructions on how to reprogram the control board?

Dang, for $4,000.00 you would think it would work right without drilling holes. I suppose that would void the warranty, so I'll hold off trying that till I see if I get any help from the factory rep.

I added more air last night and it performed much better. Now the issue is the burn rate. It's using 120lbs every 24 hours on hi/lo mode. Thats about $350.00 per month, plus the hassle of filling the bin everyday and hauling all those bags. A heatpump is looking better everyday.

hate to say it but thats about the normal burn rate. You might get lucky with tuning and get it down to 2.5 in 24 hours, but that would be about the best it will ever do

Dealer says burn pot overflow could be an issue with feed rate programming on the circuit board. I have added more air to the point that the pellets begin to be blown out of the burn pot, then backed it down a bit. It's burning better, but I won't know until morning if it worked.

I think (well know now) I had my damper open to much, I closed it a fair amount. I now have a bigger (and more) flame now. You should post a couple pics of your flame and the experts here can tell you a lot.

Dealer is coming out Friday to check or set programming for the feed rate. Hopefully they can slow or double the feed drop times on the lowest setting so the burn pot does not overflow (especially on low heat). I will have 4 higher feed settings if it needs more pellets. Hopefully that does the job, or I'll be returning the unit. Hopefully, Enviro wont give me a hard time about taking it back.
