Hi Everyone. My Enviro Meridian Free Standing has started making a high pitched whistling noise when running on the 1, 2 or 3 setting. It does come and go (but it's mainly there) and here is what has been done so far. When I turn the convection fan off, the noise goes away, when I turn it back on it comes back ( so I figured it must be the convection blower...). The unit is only one year old so my dealer came out and replaced the convection blower and the control board under warranty. They didn't try to figure out what was making the noise they just "replaced parts". I gave it a "huge" cleaning ( Leaf blower on the exhaust vent, removed firebacking and vacuumed out every imaginable port and nook and cranny, heat exchangers, etc...). I have cleaned, vacuumed, and leaf blowed everything from head to toe but it is still making the same noise. I feel like I can't call the dealer again until I have explored every possibility for the noise. Any ideas out there. I just want to get rid of this whistling noise that is driving me crazy!

Thanks for any help!

When are you getting the noise, after the room air fan comes on or before?
Do you have an outside air feed(kit) installed? If not, you might have something in the air feed tube, like a piece of paper. Also, have you taken the three back panels behind the firebrick metal panel off and cleaned behind there?

I am getting the noise only after the room air fan comes on. I do not have an outside air kit installed "dealer said I didn't need one". I have looked inside the air tube in the back, can't see much and didn't see anything in there. Are there 3 more panels that can be removed behind the 3 firebrick panels?? If so I have not removed those. Any other ideas??? Much appreciated!

There are three panels back there. Take out the babble, remove all the screws from the round access hoes ans fire brick pansl. There is also a round rod with a screw at the upper center of the three panels that holds them in place by going through a hole in each of the two side panels. If you put a small vaccuum hose back there, you can get out alot of ash.

You should also take off the combustion fan and clean out behind it once a year ( this is the fan on the left hand side of the stove ,looking at it from the front ). Ash builds up there and will interfere with the vanes on the fan if alot builds up. The manual doesn't tell you these procedures for some reason. I got a hold of a tech at Sherwood Industries who thought I was a dealer and he gave me the info. When he realized I was an owner, he shut up fast and told me to contact a dealer. I guess they want the dealears to have some job security.

One last thing, make sure you have a replacement gasket for the combustion fan. It will rip when you take the fan off. Make sure you tag the connecters on the wires you unplug, so that you don't mix them up.
