The replacement ceramic flue gasket is 50 bucks and I ripped mine pulling my flue off anybody have any other ideas? Could I use rtv instead of the ceramic gasket?

Nope. RTV goes "poof" around 800 degrees. The highest temp RTV that I know of maxes out at 650 degrees.

That is a pretty stiff price for a gasket. Maybe look into buying a sheet of 1/4" ceramic paper and carefully cutting your own.

Yeah that is an insane price for this.

A flue collar has the potential to be much hotter than 1050F. I would use ceramic to stay within the UL rating of the insert. It is rated at around 2300F.

Probably. About how thick was the original?

If you have enough material you could make two and double it up.

I worry about it slipping off if I doubled it. I remove the stove by unbolting the flue and its snug in the firebox trying to bolt that all up in there.
