Ready to just get rid of the stove, no support for this problem.

month ago, ready to do monthly service on chimney, but clean out cap fused to bottom of t. Even with a filter wrench, no go. Called the dealer who sold the stoves to me ( I have 2) and he removed the T and had to drill out the cap. The t had to be torqued off and I think it wrenched something inside of the stove. Really bad smoke leak. Dealer could not come back out. He "has multiple service calls and this is all I can do" after charging over 200 for the call. I now find that really, no one within a 60 mi radius will come out to service this....until mid feb. and only dealers service quads. What's the deal!?

Then the dealer said he sell me a tube of caulk for 30 bucks. ::-) Negatory

I completely cleaned the stove and exhaust path. The combustion fan is clean. I recaulked the entire exhaust path, noticed the feed out pipe to the T was also wrenched, and caulked that. Heavily. With the stove doors and back off I have run it multiple times to find out the source - it appears to be coming from somewhere inside, but all the components I can see are tight. It if is leaking from inside it is somewhere unreachable unless torn apart. It runs fine but the basement smells like crap. So it's been 0 for the past week, and I'm really pissed.

Is the quad DOA? What to do next?

If my memory is correct, check the adapter that goes from your pipe to the back of combustion blower, that much prying may have damaged it.You may have to remove blower assembly to see?

Thank you, I have a suspicion you are right. It would have to be inside the assembly, I have sealed everything visible from the back. Can it be repaired? It sounds like that would be a huge job and quads are not easy to access....very tight. Guess I'll have to disconnect it from the chimney again?
Thanks for the reply!

I would take off pipe and remove blower assembly, problem will be at that adapter or where blower flange mounts to stove. You might be able to get in there and look around with a mirror.Or call a buddy that is a mechanic, most of us have handheld electronic borescopes, you could check it while it is running, possibly able to reach in and temp. seal with sealer.Hope this helps.Time to go to bed, goodnite.Bob PS,I'm from frederick, years ago.
