I am in the very early stages of planning to install a prefab wood buring fireplace, and am looking for a DIY guide to building an exterior chase.

Can anyone share a link or anything that helps explain the process? THANKS!
 
Pick a fireplace & then look at the install manual.
All openings have minor differences in depths widths & heights,
based on the size of the unit being installed,
but the framing techniques are similar.
