Hey all, I'll be putting a wood insert in my fireplace. The opening of my fireplace is 41" wide by 27" high. Most standard faceplates on the inserts I'm looking at are 44" wide by 29" high. Should I use the standard faceplate and have just a few inches overlap on the masonry around the FP opening? Or should I got with the larger faceplate that usually measures 50" wide by 32" high? Does it make any difference as long as the FP opening is covered? Thanks!

Correct. The faceplate surround is just cosmetic. As long as it covers the hole it's fine.
