Leave most of them in the cardboard box they came in out in the garage . . . and have a few in my woodbox beside the stove.

Same as me... I'm still working on the box I bought summer of last year. I have enough that will easily last this season but will pick up another box in the fall of 2015.
 
I crack 2 at a time in eights and keep in zip lock bag in my hearth box.
